The Ivens
Part explorer’s club, part urban escape, The Ivens sits just off Chiado with the Tagus shimmering in the distance and the city’s noise dialled down to a hush.
Inside, things get curious: macaws, beetles, velvet, palms, and low-slung armchairs that feel more expedition basecamp than hotel lounge. The rooms, by contrast, are calm and sunlit, dressed in soft greens, beiges, and whites with views over the river or the rooftops.
There are 87 of them, designed by Cristina Matos with just enough restraint to balance the maximalist energy of the lobby and restaurants. Maps open, plans are made, and then the city calls again.
